Moortown had a slow start to the game, which had a lack-lustre feel in the opening quarter. They were ahead by a point in the lead up to half-time, but a lapse in concentration in Moortown's defence allowed Aghaloo to score 2 goals during this period and Moortown found themselves trailing at the break 2-5 - 0-6.

The second half saw some changes in personnel in the Moortown team, and with the introduction of Barry McGuigan, PJ Quinn and Conan Lavery the game increased in intensity.
